Find your frame.
Use a realistic photo matt around the live camera view to judge composition, framing, color, shape, light and space before you take the photograph.
Your first photograph
- Open the live view.
Allow camera access so MatteView can show the scene in front of you.
- Choose your frame.
Use the aspect-ratio control to try a different proportion.
- Make the composition.
Choose a matt color, turn on framing guides when useful, and adjust the camera zoom.
- Choose how to save.
Set Save with matt on or off, depending on whether you want the surround included in the saved image.
- Take the photograph.
Use the red shutter button. Allow add-only Photos access when requested so MatteView can save your image.
Common questions
Can I save without the matt?
Yes. You can compose with the visible matt and save the photograph either with or without it.
Why is there no live camera view?
Check that camera access is enabled for MatteView in iPhone Settings. Camera access is required for live composition. If access is enabled and the problem continues, close and reopen the app, then contact support.
Why can’t I save a photograph?
Check MatteView’s Photos permission in iPhone Settings. The app needs permission to add images to Photos.
Where do my photographs go?
Images you choose to save go to your device’s Photos library. Your iCloud Photos settings determine whether they sync with iCloud and your other devices.
Does deleting MatteView delete my saved photos?
No. Photographs already saved to Photos remain there after you delete MatteView. Manage or delete them in the Photos app.
Does MatteView upload my photographs?
No. MatteView processes photographs locally and does not upload them to Mattebox Labs.
